Sample letter of invitation PDF Print E-mail

Since the requirements for letters of invitation are only outlined in general, it is often difficult to produce the good invitation. There are lots of paralegals and consultants who offer a service of filling out pre-printed generic "invitation" forms for a fee. For your convenience, here we provide the sample of a good invitation letter.

Scenario

This letter of invitation may be used by a visitor to Canada who is an US native. While US-Canada border crossing for citizens of these countries is a very simple procedure, in some cases an invitation letter may be useful. In this case the letter is used to show visitor's intention to arrange the wedding - it will be helpful in future, when the visitor will be sponsored by the Canadian citizen after they marry.

INVITATION LETTER

May 10, 2009

To: Citizenship and Immigration Canada

I, Andrew Smith, born on January 1, 1977, resident of 423 Park Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, am a citizen of Canada. Hereby, I would like to confirm my intention to invite Ms.Julie Hall to visit me in Canada for a short period of time starting on June 15, 2009 and concluding on September 5, 2009.

I am asking you to consider Ms.Hall’s application for a visitor’s visa for the following reasons.

Julie Hall is a citizen of the USA and she resides in her own condo apartment at 34 John St. in New York (please find proof of the ownership enclosed). She is currently studying at the New York College of Health Professions where she is at her second year of studies at the Holistic Nursing for Professionals Program (proof of Julie’s studies is enclosed). Also, she is currently employed part-time as a receptionist with New York Presbyterian Hospital. Julie’s family which consists of her parents and 3 younger siblings lives nearby in the same neighbourhood Julie lives in.

Julie and I are engaged and have been in a relationship since the winter of 2007. I travel to the US at least once a month to spend quality time with my fiancé. Also, for the last two years we have spent our vacations together and travelled to Cuba in the autumn of 2007, to the Dominican Republic in the spring of 2008, to Alaska in the summer of 2008 and so on.

We have discussed our perspective marriage and decided on having a wedding ceremony in Toronto in the month of August. I am therefore respectfully requesting that you permit Julie to come to Canada for a period of less than 3 months so that we may be married in Canada. Julie's relatives in the US intend to join us for the wedding. All of my friends and family members in Canada are also eager to attend our wedding and share this moment with us.

Julie needs to be here with me in Canada prior to the wedding as we want to make wedding arrangements together. We plan to have a ceremony in the month of August as Julie intends to come back to the US to continue her studies at the New York College of Health Professions and resume her employment at New York Presbyterian Hospital.

During her stay in Canada, Julie will live with me in my condo apartment, which I own and where I reside by myself (proof of the ownership is enclosed). I pledge to provide lodging, board and to pay for all expenses incurred in connection with Julie’s visit to Canada and I pledge to be legally responsible for her.

I hold sufficient funds to bear all the expenses mentioned herein. I have been employed at Enterprise Inc. as a system administrator with the annual salary of $60,000 (enclosed please find the proof of same). I also hold several accounts with the Toronto Dominion Bank (proof enclosed). I undertake to ensure that Julie will not remain in Canada beyond the period authorized for her stay and that she will come back to the US as per the conditions of her visitor’s visa.

In light of the foregoing, I am asking you to kindly grant a visitor’s visa to Julie Hall. Should you require any additional information, please feel free to contact me.

Best regards,
