As of May 4, 2009, the Canadian government changed the requirements for advertisement efforts required from prospective employers. Now, employers are to advertise on a national Job Bank for 14 calendar days whereas there are no more mandatory requirements to advertise in a secondary source. An employer is also required to acquire a Canada Revenue Agency Business Number and to submit new supporting documents along with their application for a LMO to hire a live-in caregiver.
